Community Call: Let’s vote

Posted

In this year of our country’s 250th Anniversary and the founding of citizens’ rights by our founders, it is ever more important to vote and express your independent opinion, one blessing bestowed upon each of us and so important at this historical time.

Thank you to all the candidates who participated in Call Newspapers’ open platform, and to The Call’s news team preparation and distribution of questionnaires to those who have stepped up to serve in each office representing the communities covered by The Call’s news and support teams, including advertising, bookkeeping, circulation, composing and freelance staff.

We could not present the following without the recognition and participation of those running for office understanding that this is their time to shine, to enter over 70,000 mailed homes, potentially connecting with more than 200,000 readers, to share their answers and reason for taking this bold and committed step to representing their constituency.

The decision to mail homes instead of throwing the weekly newspaper on lawns set The Call apart from many area newspapers from the beginning. Since 1989, the cost has always been above that of throwing the newspaper on lawns. The founders selected mail delivery as a welcoming and sure way of entering readers’ homes without hindrance of weather nor missing those who might be traveling or not at home for another reason. Their local post office would hold mail until residents’ return, allowing readers to catch up on news in their neighborhood.
