Global DJ star to stop in Bay Area for first-ever North American tour

(KRON) -- Global superstar DJ Calvin Harris is headlining his first-ever North American tour, which includes 18 dates next spring and a stop in the Bay Area. The chart-topping artist is scheduled to perform at Oakland Arena on Friday, May 7, promoter Live Nation announced in a news release.

Harris returns to the Bay Area where he last performed in February at San Francisco's Pier 80 for a sold-out show for Super Bowl LX week.

The tour announcement comes just days after Harris headlined the Head Trip music festival in Indio, Calif.

The Scottish DJ has done numerous Las Vegas residencies, headlined major music festivals but not a solo headlining tour in North America. With nearly 75 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 30 million social media followers, Harris is one of the biggest acts in electronic dance music today.

Harris, 42, is best known for his slew of hits during the 2010s:  “I Need Your Love," “Summer” and Rihanna-backed tracks like “This Is What You Came For” and "We Found Love."

Harris recently broke the Guinness World Record for “largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist” in February in Brazil. He drew a crowd of an estimated 1.6 million people.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon local time on Thursday, Oct. 22 on the artist's website.

Spotify users will be able to access tickets early with "Reserved by Spotify" on Monday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. local time. Artist presale begins Tuesday, October 20 at noon local time.
